hey,
my names Sofie.
Im exactly the same as you! I have 3 diffrent alarms, first (at 7am) is the phone on vibrate and a song next to my head on the bedside so the vibrate makes this really loud noise. The iv got my alarm clock (8am) which again is next to my head, my housemate who lives upstairs (not even above) can hear that one go off but i am still sound asleep!! Then i have the radio (8.30am) to try and have a go if all else fails.. Then i have my housemates (9am) who cant stand the noise comming from my room trying to get me up! and im late for uni AGAIN..
This dosent happen all the time though. Somtimes I do wake at the first or second alarm but cant move at all. Even to turn them off.. Some days i just cant fight it to get out of bed and have to take the day off which i get into trouble for.

On a ussal night i go to sleep at about 3amish. I cant make myself go to sleep any earlier then this no matter what i try. Ill wake up at about 12ish if im left to wake up on my own no matter what time it was that i went to sleep.

I thought i was just lazy and id messed up my sleeping patterns but could never work out when i did it! Everyone just thinks im too lazy to get out of bed and they just dont get that i just cant do it!

I havent been diognosed with DSPS, i only found out about it yesterday!! its the answer to my problem! im goin to get myself to the doctors as soon as i can and take all the research that iv done on it!

I hope iv helped you in some way!!

Whilst I don't suffer from this problem, I have lived with a someone for 25 years who does suffer with your problem.

I personally am the opposite, a "morning lark. However, my advise to you, with the experience of living with someone with this disability , is long term get a partner who is a "morning lark".

Don't fight your problem, and cut out any medications unless absolutely recommended by a real expert, but preferably avoid medications. Rather accept your condition philosophically, and where possible adjust your life around your problem, both working and personal.

Now with the help of your "morning lark" partner, let them do the important morning jobs and you do the night/evening jobs. Let the "morning lark" deal with any schedules for you that need to be arranged in the mornings for re-scheduling to afternoons or later.

THE most difficult period for you will be the here and now if you don't yet have an appropriate partner and study/training schedules to meet.

Long term you will need an occupation that can accommodate your condition.

Don't fight it, adjust around it. Further, in choosing a partner, do make sure they are a "morning lark". Be ruthless and early on reject any that are not "morning larks".

People with your problem are complemented with understanding partners that are "morning larks".
