I have had sleep problems for as long as I can remember. I had epilepsy as a child…and had to get tests done that required a sleep phase. I would be given medication that “should” have induced sleep, but they did not work for me. I would try to pretend to be asleep, but the doctors could tell I wasn’t by the readings they were getting. Like most on this site I can relate. Treatment aside, with bookkeeping and limited hours it may work well for you to do this from home. I am a network designer and I own my own business. I have found remote access to be a great tool to work on computers after hours. If you need any help on where to get started or how to convince management that this is a suitable option please let me know and I will help in any way I can.

I'm totally with you. Whenever someone says to just "go to bed earlier" or "go to bed and get up at the same time every day" and the problem will be solved I want to just slap them. I hope your husband learns to be more supportive.

That is really great that you are able to schedule work around your sleep rhythm-but not so cool that you don't get very many hours. I am in law school right now and am very worried because I want to be a public defender -- but they are in court all the time, and can't avoid scheduling hearings in the morning. I don't think I can do court in the morning every single day and expect to do a good job without sorting out my sleep problem. I know there are practice areas that would allow for a flexible schedule (I would love something along the lines of noon to midnight), but I also worry that employers won't understand and will just think I'm lazy or undisciplined.

If you (or anyone) have tried the light therapy, I hope you will share the results. I can't really afford it right now, but if I heard that it worked for others, I might be willing to use Mr. Mastercard to try it out.
