Adderoll for Delayed Sleep Phase SyndromeHas anyone tried Adderall for Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome or heard of it being used as treatment? I read in one of the stories on this website that someone else has used it. I'd never heard of Adderall as a treatment for DSPS and I'm wondering if I should try it.
Re: Adderoll for Delayed Sleep Phase Syndromeyes I have; it depends upon your condition. It's stronger (at least for me) than Ritalin though it has limited effect in promoting wakefulness during the day. It has also addictive potential (reportedly) though I have not found this to be the case -- though I do not have an 'addictive personality' as I can take or leave any substance. It does have diminishing returns. I would recommend using it to help adjust your sleep cycle, ie. short term use to stay awake during the day, if this is possible at all. I wish you the best of luck. I would also advise that with regard to drug use in fighting this, you should approach it as a superficial aid rather than a crutch, to supplement a herculean force of willpower and determination on your part, which you'll need!
Re: Adderoll for Delayed Sleep Phase SyndromeNot sure about adderoll it seems to be for during the day or while awake. My 13 yr old son has DSPS and has suffered for the past 2 yrs. We tried many treatments and right now the only thing that works is TRAZODONE. He takes 50 to 100 mg at bedtime to help him fall asleep otherwise he doesnt get to sleep til 1,2,3 or 4 a.m. sometimes later. But different treatments work for different people. The medication was a last resort after trying melatonine, light therapy, chronotherapy, sleep routines, no caffien, etc. So try all the treatments before going to meds. Then try different meds. My son tried several and the first time he tried trazodone it didn't seem to work, but i tried again and it has worked through this summer in getting him to sleep. If he forgets to take it -- he is still wide awake aftr a very active day and evening. And if he forgets to take it at all he is not able to get to sleep for a long while.
Well good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
