DSPS- & AMBIENSleep Clinic doctor prescribed Ambien for my "insomnia" but my trouble isn't falling asleep-WHEN I go to bed, it's sleeping 12-15 hours rather than a normal 6, 7 , or 8. He and I both concur that I have DSPS. I am fearful of taking the Ambien, because I live alone, and normally do things at odd hours already- like go to the gym at 3 am. Typically go to bed between 3 am and 5 am. Once I am up, I am up for the day, and am not a napper.
Re: DSPS- & AMBIENI think you're smart to be leery of Ambien. I took it for a while and it can cause some strange problems. For me, I was spending time online buying things. I remembered being online but it was as if a control switch had been switched. I've heard other people who get up and eat a bunch without waking and some actually drive places and don't remember doing it. It can be dangerous. My aunt had hallucinations of strange things flying over her bed.
It did help me fall asleep but I'm like you, I sleep 12-15 normally and when I took Ambien, I'd sleep even longer. Rozerem seemed to work a bit better. I used to see a lot of ads for that but now I don't see any. Was there a problem I hadn't heard about?
