Reporter looking for people to interviewHello,
I am a reporter with Columbia News Service in New York and I am working on a story about the problems people with Advanced/Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder face and what they are doing to stand up for themselves, at work, in relationships, etc., and say they are not lazy slackers, or the other stereotypes. If you think you might be interested in being interviewed, please let me know a bit about yourself and I will give you more information as well. I look forward to hearing from you all -- there are some really great stories here on this important issue. Thanks!

Re: Reporter looking for people to interviewHi, I'm not a journalist, yet lately I've been seriously considering writing some articles about dsps myself. I just recently discovered that what I have been dealing with since childhood is actually a real condition with a name, that I'm not crazy or lazy, and I feel the urge to go on a crusade to enlighten the world to this unknown condition and what we who have it go through. I'd be more than willing to talk with you.
Re: Reporter looking for people to interviewi love being interviewed :) I've had Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder for as long as I can remember. I've been on every drug that's available for it, done every therapy and nothing works. I've gone insane from the isolation of it a few times and have had some EXTREME treatments to deal with it.

Re: Reporter looking for people to interviewI am a 52 year old female who has worked at the same place of employment for the past thirty-one years. I have been written up so many times, given dozens of notices, and even forced to not come in to work for three days without pay, and I'm still late all the time. The only reason my boss, whom I've known since I was five years old hasn't fired me (I think) is due to the fact that we have known each other all of our lives.
Last Friday, January 27, 2009, I came late to work again and he finally snapped. He told me if I'm late one more time, I'm fired! I once again began despertately searching the web like I'd done hundreds of times before, for some kind of an explanation to this madness. That's when I stumbled upon DSPS and I nearly fell out of my chair! It described me to a tee. I made a copy and gave it to my boss and said to him, "please try to keep an open mind, and please read this". I've also given it to my co-workers and our salesman, who is my brother-in-law. Now I'm even more scared that before when I go to bed, like before, scared I won't wake up, get up, and make it in time for work. Over the weekend I had litterly hundreds of memories of different times and different situations that fit this syndrome to the letter. If you'd like to talk further, please let me know and I'd be more than happy to give you my phone number and such. Sincerely, Melody
Re: Reporter looking for people to interviewI would love to participate. I really want to get the word out there in hopes that more doctors and pharmacutical companies will conduct sleep studies for DSPS so we can get better treatment. I am a 27 year old woman in Philadelphia who had struggled with the disorder my entire life. I fluctuate between depression, despiraton and determination (alliteration not intended). This disorder rules my life. I had so many hopes and dreams that have been dashed because I can't wake up in the morning or I don't have the energy. I also suffer from clinical depression and wonder whether the two disorders are related.
Re: Reporter looking for people to interviewI suppose you may of all ready published this story you were working on. I would love to read it. We have been dealing with advance DSPS for the past 2 yrs. My 13 yr old son has it. It is awful for him, but it could be worse! I am thankful he is healthy, but it is difficult to live with DSPS. He is heading into H.S. and I hope he gets through it.
