DSPS Sleep Disorder: a threat to my jobI have had DSPS, fibromyalgia, anxiety depression etc. for many years and so far, the company I work for has accommodated my disabilites. But they will soon be starting a new policy that everyone has to be at the office no later than 9:00 AM -- very debilitating for me when I often don't fall asleep until 5:30 or 6:00 AM.
I need to find a doctor in my area who is experienced in treating DSPS--not an easy task. Some psychiatrists claim they can treat DSPS through extensive psychoanalysis, but I need a doctor who can do chronotherapy and similar treatments that work much faster. I live in Laguna Hills, CA. Can you help me find the right kind of doctor in my general vicinity? It will help a lot if the doctor is a Cigna provider. By the way, is DSPS a medical or a psychiatric diagnosis? Same question about fibromylgia and focal brain injury. Thanks so much, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Re: DSPS Sleep Disorder: a threat to my jobI would say that the Scripps Institute in La Jolla, Ca is your best bet. I am sure they take cigna insurance there but you can call and check directly. Delayed sleep phase syndrome is considered a circadian rhythm problem, not a psychiatric disorder. Fibromyalgia is considered a medical condition by most people in the field. You should be able to get some help with the people at Scripps. If not, UCLA also has a great sleep center that may be able to help you.
