I'm so tired.

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

F days after birth of my fth child, I suffered an eclamptic seizure (as it diagnoised). I had no symptoms of toxemia during pregnancy. I have not been able to sleep medicine free since time. I have been diagnoised Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. I have been on 2mg of Clonopin a wide range of sleeping pills. I am trying to get off medication ( help of a doctor). I have also taken anti-depressants on off, I feel I am caught in a vicious cycle. If I don't sleep, I become depressed if I am depressed, I don't sleep. Ever since night gave birth n had seizure I seem to release adrenalin just as I am about to go to sleep. I have learned all relaxation techniques, have tried to reset my biological clock do everything a medical doctor has suggested. However, I am not sleeping more than two to three hs a night is only because of Ambien I am currently on. Can body stop making Seratonin or ever chemical is released to help body relaxe fall asleep naturally?

I had insomnia problems after the birth of my son. It got so bad that I was getting 2 hours a night until he was 1. I started on the Klonopin and then with the help of a sleep doctor (I found and paid on my own), I started cutting back the dosage. We developed a sleep chart and marked dosage (every 2 weeks cut back .25mg), bedtime, wake time, other (times got up). I took up exercise (4x week), yoga (almost every day until I got better) and practiced good sleep hygiene. One of the best helps I got was a book "Desperately Seeking Snoozin'" (www.insomniacure.com). I've got to tell you, I've been off the Klonopin for 6 months now and sleep pretty great now (I guess that's all relative isn't it?). Good luck.

I totally sympathize with you. I'm so tired too. I'm on ambien. I've had this sever problem for 5 years. I've never given birth. I have this extreme jolt of nervousness right at the time I'm about to doze off. I've tried it all. Relaxation, no caffine, no heavy food or salt right befor bed, increased my calcium and B vitimen. I don't know what is wrong with me. I have the cycle you mention; no sleep = irritibility = depression = no sleep. I can't be the only one with this sleep problem.

People have different levels of serotonin but all people make some of it.
