Insomina and lack of windows PLEASE HELP!

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Oct 17, 2005 4:21 pm

Hi. I'm a college student, living off-campus for the first time. I'm an insomniac, and my apartment has no windows.

I've tried lots of things to get me up, but apparently they don't work.

For instance, this morning, I set my alarm clock about an hour before I wanted to get up. It woke me up, so I re-set it, and went back to bed.

I woke up, missing all of my classes today. I think I slept through my alarm until it shut itself off. I had 3 of them set. (my alarm clock in my room, my alarm clock in my kitchen, and the alarm on my phone)

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can train myself to wake up when my alarm clock tells me to? If I miss any more of my classes, I'll get kicked out of school :-(

I don't really have a problem getting out of bed, it has more to do with STAYING out of bed.

I think the lack of windows and sunlight is a serious problem, but I'm stuck in my lease until May.

PLEASE HELP ME!

Hi Storyteller:

You might want to try a full spectrum light.

Check out this website www.fullspectrumsolutions.com

The light will closely simulate the sun. 30 min of direct exposure in the morning might help.

You may also try conulting a Sleep specialist.

Hopefully you have a small frig in your room to keep this. Anyway, go over to Wholefoods and buy a bottle of "Flaxseed Oil". Make sure you purchase the kind that is in their refrigerator section. One of the better brands is Barleans. Set two shot glasess full of Flaxseed oil beside your bed before you go to sleep. When your alarm goes off, drink the flaxseed oil right away. That stuff gives you so much energy that you will not be able to go back to sleep. If you do, it will wake you up.
