insomnia

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun May 12, 2002 6:02 pm

i've been having extreme difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep for about 2 weeks now. i'm constantly tired and find it difficult to focus, and i don't know what to do. now i am worried about not sleeping, which makes it even worse. i had this problem about 6 years ago (i'm 21) and managed to get over it with trazodone.. but now the trazodone doesn't seem to be helping at all (i take 150 mg). i'm also trying herbal teas and homeopathic remedies and hypnosis, but nothing has really helped. i am starting to get desperate, and today i just read about something called sporadic fatal insomnia, which freaked me out even more. please help, i don't know what to do!
thank you.

you need to contact your doctor and consider seeing a sleep specialist. Insomnia has many causes and treating the cause is important in treating the insomnia. Medications sometimes don't work well. Sporadic fatal insomina is extremely rare so i would not consider that very likely in your case. However, you need to read about the herbal remedies you are using and see if any of them may be a problem here as well.
