IS THIS INSOMNIA?I have been diagnosed with cerebellar atrophy (olivopontocerebellar atrophy ataxia, I believe) and have been having extreme sleep problems for the last year, (slow to fall asleep, wake up in the early morning hours, can't go back to sleep). I was taking an anti-depressant (I forget name) & it had no effect on me, and am currently taking Trazodone, but my body is gaining tolerance for it. I want to fix the underlying problem, not just 'cover it up' with different medications. Does anyone know, are these sleep problems possibly related to the atrophy (I didn't have any problems before this condition)? Can't take too much more. What further actions should I consider?
Re: IS THIS INSOMNIA?did you check the delayed sleep phase disorder article on wikipedia? It may help - you may not have insomnia, neither depression. Doctors don't diagnose DSPD - they take it for depresseoin and insomnia etc. weird.
