Lifetime Insomnia

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Aug 27, 2003 4:35 pm

I am 28 years old and have struggled with insomnia throughout my entire life. Even as a child I had trouble falling asleap. The problem has continually gotten worse as I've gotten older, escalading to 2 to 3 weeks without sleeping normally - I won't fall asleap until 2, 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning, then wake up every half hour. Not sleeping more than a few hours for 2 or 3 weeks agrivates my asthma and makes me sick to my stomach and achy. This happens whether I have stress in my life or not. Even if my life is fairly stress-free, I still need to take medication every night. I've been taking Ambien for the past 6 months straight. What causes this and how do I fix it? I've seen a therapist about rooted issues in my life and resolved a lot of them, and the insomnia persists. I've been told it could be a chemical problem in my brain. Someone please help me.
