Maybe DSPS, Sleep w/ Light On?The daughter appears to have the symptoms of DSPS as described in the long article, has apparently had this condition for a few years, had disrupted her high school grades, has made her unable to get to early classes in college, has made normal working hours a real challenge (at best), etc. Maybe 3-4 AM she gets to bed. But, she leaves light on when she goes to bed; it seems to facilitate her sleep, almost like if she changes to darkness, her system will think it is still in its normal darkness period of activity. I saw no mention of going to sleep needing a light on in the article. Just trying to nail down the high probability that this is DSPS, and not another of the conditions. Thanks.
Re: Maybe DSPS, Sleep w/ Light On?That is interesting as it is not usually the case. Has she tried bright light exposure in the morning hours? Has she tried moving her clock forward by 1 hour over a period of several days until she reaches a normal bedtime? These are some of the treatments available. Obviously she would be best served by seeing sleep physician and getting the diagnosis and treatment established.

Re: Re: Maybe DSPS, Sleep w/ Light On?Bright light also tends to put me to sleep. I generally fall asleep at about 7am and sleep until 4pm. I sleep with the south facing window open. I fall into this pattern anytime my schedule allows. Unfortunatly I have to go back to a "real" job soon. The only way I know to "fix" the clock (and for me its only temporary) is to pull an all nighter.
