Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Apr 12, 2002 3:40 am

i have heard in the past that some people can claim that it takes them 1-2 hours to fall asleep, but when in a sleep recording or experiment of some kind it only takes them 30 minutes or so. why does this happen?

Most people fall asleep in 10-15 minutes. Patients with insomnia can take longer. Perhaps what you are describing is when patients perceive they don't fall asleep for 1-2 hours but when studied, they actually do fall asleep sooner. Their perception is off.
