I canNOT control my immediate need for sleep....is it norcalepsy?

I am a 19 yr old college student who have always had problems with falling asleep at unappropiate times (working, school, talking, etc). For instance, I worked at a grocery store in high school. I could begin checking out a customer when an immediate, uncontrollable need for sleep overcomes. This may happen several times a day. It may last for a couple of minutes but when I awake I had no clue of what I just did. But the bagging the groceries, giving back the correct change and everything is done exactly if I was awake. My body actually functions as if i am awake. I can start to wash dishes and when I wake up everything is done correctly. I feel refreshed butfor a short period of time. In school it happens the same way. Everyone, including me always wonders how I sleep alot but have the highest grades. But this is becoming to be a huge problem in school for me. I also have a slight weakness during laughter. I get a good night of sleep. As I am futhering my education this is becoming very scary and embarrassing. Does this sound like norcalepsy? Could the condition become worse?
