trying to understand problem

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Nov 06, 2005 7:22 am

Hi, this is my first time to this site, I hope someone can help.
I have had a sleep problem for almost 5 years, I can sleep all the time but I am never rested, I have been to a sleep specialist and had a sleep study done, the dr. said it is kin to narcolepsy, but they don't know exacally what the problem is, they tried me on provigil, it did not work, so now I am on 80 mg of ritalin a day just to be able to function.
I would like to know if anyone knows if hormones could be creating this problem?

Hi, It seems as though your doctor is right you have Narcolepsy. I also take Ritalin for Narcolepsy. Unfortunately Ritalin is a stimulant and only helps with keeping you awake. It doesn't aid in providing energy. You may want to keep checking your bloodwork to check your iron level, kidney and liver functions because Ritalin does have side affects. I don't encourage you to keep upping your dosage in hope of energy, but I do suggest you exercise and eat in light moderations. Please know that in the Medical field being tired is associated with being depressed when being diagnosed. So specify tireness and not depressed when talking to your doctor. Avoid greasy foods and caffeine products. I've changed my eating habits to mostly grilled, baked, and vegetables. Please try this along with your ritalin and you will see a difference. Also, take a nap during the day and before going to any evening engagements, and sleep for 8hours. Avoid alcoholic beverages also, because they will only make you fall asleep and embarrass you. Good luck and be aware of your limitations.

Hi. I tried many of the various drugs and ended up going phycosis in a years time . Doc's just gave me more. and I got worse. I had to change doc's but things got worse. try this , try that , up this , up that
TWO Grande Mall SEIZERS later. Doctors ! What are you doing to me ?
I take up to 4 x 100mg of modafinil which helps keep my eyes from closing so easily. To help my sleep I use THC pot. It blocks dreams and gives you better controll over paralystic or cataplexic
discontforts.
