I recently lost my son. According to his girlfriend, he was having bouts of frequent nightmares. He beat his girlfriend while asleep twice. He told her he dreamt of childhood abuse.

I can't imagine how painful it must have been for you. It sounds like your son had post-traumatic stress disorder from the abuse. Many people with PTSD acts out during their nightmares.
