RBDI am 19 also. I have been having symptoms of RBD for about a year and a half. I have tried clonazapem, imipramine, and I also take Paxil. My roommate in college can’t sleep at night. I scream out and talk in my sleep almost every night. I have scared my friends and family. I have also had a sleep deprived EEG and it was found inconclusive. I want to do a sleep study, but it is very expensive. I am glad that others suffer from this also. Can anyone else help me with what to do?

Re: RBDWell you have obviously been to a specialist to get all those drugs. I am not a specialist. All I can recommend is exercise. It is a stress reliever. U R in college - = big stress. Take one - two hours out of your day and exercise like a demon. Stress can be a prime cause of RBD symptoms. If too worried you will not get past REM sleep which will more likely get you in trouble. You need to sleep better. So exhaust yourself physically and if you lose a few pounds in the process you can thank me later. Peace and here's to a good nite sleep.
Re: RBDHi
Im a 22 year old male and had tried clonazepan and amytriptalyne to no avail. I did some research on other drug treatments and came back with melatonin, i take 3 mg before bed and so far its been great. I know in the sates you can get them as supplements, but you should see a doctor to get them proffesionally prescribed as i read a study that most of the supplements barely had any Melatonin in them at all. Its not yet a traditional treatment for RBD but its far less evasive than all the others, and you actually wake up feeling a little refreshed. My episodes havent disapeared entirely, its still early days, but my marrige is has imporved ten fold - helped by the fact that im not trying to beat her up in my sleep. Melatonin is a natural hormone that is released when it gets dark. It cools our body down, telling it its ready for sleep. Im not exactly sure on how it works in relation to RBD, but it feels as if its maybe treating the cause a little bit more than just the symptoms. Might not work for everyone but definately worth giving a try.
