Unable to sleep without dreamingFor the last six months I have been unable to sleep without having the most realistic and vivid dreams be it daytime or night, allways remembering them and waking every hour and a half or two hours usually talking, the dreams are usually pleasent but unusual, some have people and places I know and some do’nt, few are violent. I eat healthy, am not overweight, walk, run and lift weights most days, am learning to dance, do’nt do drugs, smoke or drink, go to church most sundays and have...Read the full article
Re: Unable to sleep without dreamingI wish I could help, but unfortunately I have the same problem and have been unable to come up with a solution. This just started maybe 6 months ago. Unlike you, I am female, 69 years old, overweight, and physically inactive. So I would say our physical well being or lack of has nothing to do with it.
I awaken at least twice during the night, sometimes every couple hours, and every time, I remember what I was dreaming. I have been dreaming every time before I awaken. My doctor just pooh-poohs it, he doesn't feel that anything that is not life-threatening (i.e. high blood pressure, high blood glucose) doesn't warrant discussing. Not sure if my insurance would pay for a specialist. If you ever do come up with an answer, I hope you will email me at [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed]. I find myself going to bed earlier than I should, because I know my sleep will be interrupted over and over, so I feel In order to get a total amount of sleep I'd better start sooner. Beverly
Re: Unable to sleep without dreamingDreaming is normal. However, if you are waking several times during the night and find yourself sleeping during the day, you may have the RBD or sleep apnea. Has your doctor recommended a sleep test? Sleep apnea destroyed my life and went undiagnosed for at least 15 years. This was the way it started. Please be sure that that doesn't happen to you.
Re: Unable to sleep without dreamingSleep apnea among females is usually found in overweight individuals. Has your doctor prescribed a sleep test? Please do some research on sleep apnea and if the symptoms seem familiar, bring this up. It may change your life and keep it worth living.
Re: Unable to sleep without dreamingI didn't think this much dreaming was normal. But I don't have sleep apnea, I do fine all day.
I perhaps wouldn't have made so much of this if it weren't for the fact that this has not always been the case, just the last 6 months or so. And whereas most people I talk to dream sometimes, I dream always. Or, is it merely that I am one of the few that remember them upon awakening.
Re: Unable to sleep without dreamingEveryone dreams at night. We often do not always remember what we dream about. If you are able to reach REM ( rapid eye movement) you are able to dream. It always appears that we are dreaming the whole night, but actually the average dream is only about five or ten min.
