RBD and PDI've been diagnosed with RBD and have been fighting the unknown in my sleep for several years. My concerns now is the association of RBD and Parkinson's Disease. I am in the process of following up the diagnosis of RBD with a neurologist but can't get the thought of PD out of my mind. Have anyone of you had this dilemma? After researching the subtle beginnings of PD I can put myself right in there with the PD's. Do any of you have signs of PD or have progressed into PD?
Re: RBD and PDHi,
I am by no means an expert but have done a bit of research on this disorder. My personal view is that it is really under-researched. There is some comorbidity with PD from what Ive read but the rate seems only about 50% and all the research is with older males (50+ yrs) so to me that confuses the link somewhat. I would love to see some research about RBD with young people; there is basically nothing on the topic. Gregory Stores is a researcher who has reported one case of a man developing RBD in his teens and at 20+ year follow up remains fine. Cheers
