My son’s journey with PLMDMy son at the age of 8, was diagnosed with Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome–a migraine of the stomach. This condition made him vomit quite regularly every month from 1 to 5 days. He was treated with Periactin 4 mgs once a day at bedtime. His medication was revised often at this time. When he turned 11 he was no longer throwing up regularly, but was having head migraines and missing a lot of school. The Periactin no longer was working. Re: My son’s journey with PLMDHi, Not sure if you are still looking on this website or not as your posting was a while ago. I just read your story - you poor things!! Thought I'd let you know that my son has only just turned 5 & a couple of months ago was diagnosed with Periodic Limb Movement Disorder.
He suffered from obstructive sleep apnea prior to this & had his tonsils & adenoids removed, making a huge difference to him (he suffered severe Night Terrors) but not completely fixing him. He has big bags under his eyes & is very tired all of the time, particularly showing up in his behaviour. When he doesn't seem quite as tired, he is an absolutely lovely boy. Most of the time though he isn't quite as lovely! He has been put on Melatonin for 3 months & this has made a definite difference so far, but he still moves around an awful lot. He also had his iron checked as apparently people with this condition need levels at the higher end of normal (I was told over 50). His is in the normal level, but not high enough. Unfortunately though there was a large discrepancy with a previous result so now they need to rule out other things (like cancer - although the likelihood is quite low). Hopefully this will be sorted out soon & he'll be able to take iron & we'll see if this further improves things. I am about to look up Periactin & Requip as these seem to be mentioned a lot for this condition. Good luck!! Tanya
