choking sensation at night

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Apr 12, 2002 1:19 pm

I wake up in a panic about 1 or 2 nights a week. It feels like I have been woken out of of dream, where I have swallowed something that is too large to go down my throat, and I am struggling to swallow it. I need to turn the light on and drink some water to get rid of the feeling. I am a 38 year old female, and am not overweight. THis has been going on for about a year and a half.

Any suggestions?

There are several possibilities such as gastroesophageal reflux, postnasal drip and obstructive sleep apnea. You should speak with your physician about this so he or she can ask more questions, examine you and determine the best course of action.
