~~Do you think this could be OSA??~~

Post a new topicby dragonfly11m on Wed May 06, 2009 11:08 am

I have recently been to an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor who diagnosed me as having incredbile nasal swelling. He said on a scale of 1-10, I am probably an 11. Did an allergy test which came back negative. I have an appointment for surgery in a little over a month. The doctor told me that I must not be able to sleep well because of the severity of the swelling in my nose and that I was probably waking several times due to low oxygen. I was suprised that he mentioned this without having to say anything because I had never thought that could be a cause to symptoms I had been having. There have been several times throughout the last year and a half that I have woke up and raised straight up in bed, having a feeling of gasping for air. Then last night seemed to be the worst. I seemed to have an awareness of not breathing several times throughout the night and at one point I woke up and my chest seemed to be hurting some. I had a hard time falling asleep because of being scared it would happen again. Does this sound like OSA?? ** As a side note, I am a 31 year old female who weighs 189 and has been in the process of losing weight.
