Intubation and Sleep ApneaMy father recently went to have surgery for Diviticulousous (Sp?) and they were unable to intubate due to a large amount of white fluffy tissue in his throat. My father suffers from sleep apnea and they think it might be related.
What might this white fluffy tissue be and is it common with sleep apnea?
Re: Intubation and Sleep ApneaI really don't know. I have not heard of that before. Patients with OSA are more difficult to intubate because the airway closes off more easily. However a good anesthesiologist should be able to do it.
