Hi. Recently i was diagnosed with osa.i have done 2 studys and seen a pulmanary specialist.on my 2nd sleep study they added 2liters of oxygen. now they want to deliver my cpap and concentrater to sleep with. my concern is if i start sleeping with oxygen will my body start requiring it all the time? also i am obese i have just lost 23 lbs and still going is there any way i can turn this all around? i also smoke and My oxygen leveling awake is 91 the pulminary specialist said it was due to my diaphram not letting my lungs exspand.also they say i have cpod. iam 36yrs old, and scarred to death to slleep with oxygen because iam afraid i will have to use it all the time. could you answer my questions and comment on the rest. thanks starlight

Using oxygen when you need it is good for you, your brain, heart, etc. It is not like a drug where your body will get used to it and you will need it more. Going without oxygen when it is needed is far more dangerous.

Congratulations on the weight loss. Yes you can turn some of this around by continuing to lose weight but also you must stop smoking. To continue smoking just continues the damage to your lungs and increased your chances of cancer as well as the possibility of needing oxygen all the time.

Don't be scared of the oxygen, it will help you. but definately get rid of the smoking...
