OSA

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Feb 01, 2002 12:38 pm

I am 57 years of age and recently diagnosed with OSA. I am overweight but my present concern is my hearing. My right ear drum is perforated and has a hole covering about 60% of it. My CPAP airflow is set at 8. My Dr. hasn't run into this problem before. I can feel a difference in my right ear since starting use of the CPAP and humidifier. Is there a chance this could affect my hearing or cause infections in the inner ear?? Would 8 be too high for the airflow?? My family Dr. also says I have a minor deviated septum. What can you tell me on all of this???

A perforated ear drum is a problem with cpap. a consultation with an ear nose and throat physician is a good idea. cpap at any level can worsen the perforation.
