Now what? After two separate overnights at two different sleep clinics, one diagnosis of OSA and another of just plain snoring, the removal of my uvula, soft palate and tonsils, the correction of a deviated septum, an unsuccessful try with a CPAP machine, and the loss of 10 pounds, I'M STILL SNORING, GASPING and OTHERWISE GETTING A LOUSY NIGHT'S SLEEP!
Now what?
Re: Now what? There are three main forms of treatment for OSA: surgery like you had, cpap and dental devices. CPAP is the most effective and it may be that you needed a better fitting mask or more time to get used to it for you to be able to use it regualarly. The dental devices are quite good but they must be made by a dentist familiar with them.

Re: Re: Now what?I had two sleep studies done in 2000. Recently I requested copies of BOTH studies as my dr never reviewed the results with me.
I fall asleep at work, in the car and at home. My house is a disaster because I am too tired to clean. I have been on bipap for two years and have had several mask changes. I have OSA and PLM. I saw a sleep disorder dr in February and a ENT dr last week. They want me to have a trach done. They said it will help my sleep, my diabetes, my depression and weight. I sure hope so! I am raising two grandsons and they really need me!!! I wrecked last summer coming home from the hospital. I could have killed my oldest grandson and myself. Does anyone know if a trach will work? I want a 99-100% change os success not below 50 which is what they said would be the results of a palate surgery. I am seeing another ENT on 4/24 for a 3rd opinion. If he agrees with the other 2-I am having the trach!!!
