Should I see my doctor???

Post a new topicby jaketaylor1973 on Thu Nov 06, 2008 6:00 am

I'm 35 with hypertension and to be honest I am slightly over weight. Whilst reading up on my hyertension with a view to better manage it I came across an article on OSA. I thought nothing of it until I considered the complaints my ex-girlfriend would have about me waking her in the night with loud snoring and gasping, rasping and clicking sounds as I tried to breath. My mother laughed about this and mentioned that I had always been like this from being a small child. In addition, I have a slightly crooked nose cartlidge, which causing one nostril to completely close, should I block the other, another potential obstruction.

I sometimes wake often in the night, but also have no trouble sleeping, deeply, at least it seems that is the case. I don't seem to struggle during the day but having recently given up coffee, I was a 10 cups a day man, it seems i experience an increasing number of 'tired' periods.

I think I already have my answer, but I would appreciate any thoughts. It might seem strange but I don't like to bother my doctor.

Once i was on my cpap and started to live again.. i spoke in length to my respirologist who told me something i'm going to share with you. "Snoring is not normal. It means that you are not getting enough oxygen when you sleep", so regardless of the root cause, it IS something you should be speaking to your doctor about. You need to be very pro-active when it comes to your health
