Sleep apnea as it relates to FMS/MPS

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed May 08, 2002 6:51 pm

I would like to receive any info on the relashionship to such since I have been told that I have no obstructive ENT areas to justify the Sleep Apnea. Could you if possible assist me in attaining medical research or factual medical documentation which can identify or relate FMS/MPS Syndrome to the Sleep Apnea?

FMS-Fibromyalgia
MPS-Myofascial

I suffer from both of these Syndromes and I would like to have some creditable medical info on this subject as it pertains to one's sleep paterns, re:Sleep Apnea of which I have developed with no ENT obstructive areas identified.

There are certainly many sleep problems in patients with both those syndromes but obstructive sleep apnea is not a usual one. Typically patients have "alpha intrusion " into sleep which means they have awake brain waves on top of their normal sleep brain waves. What this means is not clear but it is definately different than normal sleep. If you have sleep apnea and these conditions, the sleep apnea can be making the symptoms worse by disrupting the sleep even further.

Need help, about my sleep problem

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Jul 20, 2002 10:02 pm

Hi this is my first post. I hope you can tell me if I might have a sleep disorder problem. For years I have felt like I never get enough sleep. Some times the longer I sleep I feel more fatigued. Some times I wake up and feel like I had been suffocating, throat, and real soar. My head felt very flush, like I have been holding my breath for a long time then started breathing, that feeling. Now days I wake up with head aches, I am real tired all of the time. I sleep whenever I am off work. I am being treated for head pains, headaches. Injections through the back of the neck, (Not working). I took a video last night of me sleeping. I noticed I sounded like I was breathing through a hose, very shallow breaths too, around 16-18 breaths a minute, and ever minute or so I gasp, snoring sound real loud for air. What caught my eye was that every time I took in a breath of air my throat/neck sucked in, very noticeable like my lungs want more air but cannot get it through my nose and the throat was the weak spot and their for sucks in. Please Help if you can, what should I do. Thank you for caring enough to help people like myself out. Doug
