Swollen Uvala

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Dec 29, 2001 3:29 pm

My husband woke up early moinging and had a hard time swollowing. Looked in his mouth and saw his Uvala as big as my thumb. After reading things about OSA I think that may be him. Should he see a doctor or just loose wieght. Only when he's been to a hockey game and has had beer, he snores louder than a bear, plus he's gained some wieght. What should we do?

snoring is definately a sign of potential obstructive sleep apnea. A patient's weight may contribute to this but is not the only reason it could develop. A larger than normal uvula or soft palate can also contribute to obstructive breathing during sleep. A full evaluation by your physician or one familiar with sleep medicine will help determine the best course of action for your husband.
