Coma-Like Sleep, I NEED HELP.I am now 17 years old. Ever since I can remember, I have had coma-like sleep. I am completely unaware of anything that is happening when I sleep. I could sleep through a fire, crashing thunderstorms, anything. Once my head hits the pillow, I'm out and there is no return untill I wake up on my own. I wake up very good in the mornings, just the at nite sleeping that is a problem. I was acctually raped during sleep. I was staying the night at my friends house and her brother and his friends also were staying the night. I woke up in the morning sore, with no clothes on. I went to sleep with clothes on, so I know what had happened. Yet, when I was sleeping, I never woke up, I was not aware what was going on. There have been several times when I have fallen off the top bunk of my bed while sleeping, only to wake up in the morning with a bloody nose lying on the floor with no recollection of even falling off during the night. There have been times when I was little, my parents would come into my room and pick me up and flop me back on to my waterbed and I still remained fast asleep. My boyfriend has shouted at me and pounded me on the back to wake me up, yet I never do. I am so afraid of what can happen to me while I sleep, because honestly, I feel it can be almost anything. It is almost like I am in a coma while I sleep. Also when I was about 8, I went through very bad episodes of sleep walking, yet I never had memories of it. My parents would tell me that I would wake them up at strange hours in the night to ask them questions and to talk about things that made absolutely no sense. If anyone has any answers, or knows of ANY sleep disorders that this could be related to, please help me out. I need an explanation or something, because I cant stay this way forever.
Re: Coma-Like Sleep, I NEED HELP.I have the same sleep problem...Only i am a mother of 4 and 29 yrs old I can not for the life of me wake up and when i asked my family doctor he just thinks i am overly tired but i know that is not the problem. I have not been able to wake up even when people yell shake or whatever they do to try and wake me. they have gotten very angry and do not want to wake me up anymore. I have never been able to wake up to an alarm clock so i depend on people to try and wake me although they have told me i yell and kick at them but when i finally do wake up i dont remember any of it. I swear that i go into a coma when i fall asleep. A while back i didnt believe my boyfriend when he said he tried waking me up for hours so the next time he wrote a message all over my body to prove that i do not wake when he tried.......i have no idea why this happens or how to fix it but with 4 kids i REALLY need to wake up so if you know anything that will help pleeeeease let me know too Thanks!
Re: Coma-Like Sleep, I NEED HELP.am 66 yr old grandmother and have had this problem all of my life...at least as far back as i can remember...identify w/ depending on friends or family to wake me up, and and their ensuing anger and frustration...writing this at 5 am because i went to sleep at 2:00 am sun, and did not wake until after 10:00 sun. night...having a hard time going back to sleep...have a sleep marathon like this every couple of months...have never encountered anyon else w/ this type sleep problem...went through sleep disorder testing yrs. ago and no problem was found! long since quit mentioning this to drs, since i generally get a 'raised eyebrow' reaction...get the feeling, i'm perceived as hypochondriac or such! have either of you ever been tested or diagnosed w/ sleep disorder or been given any explanation for the problem? would love some answers!
