disturbed sleep

Post a new topicby volswood on Wed Aug 22, 2007 2:22 am

I have an apnea problem and use a CPAP. I am still tired a lot druing the day particularly after lunch but at night when I go to sleep if my sleep is disturbed ever so slightly in the first hour or so I can not go back to sleep for 2 or 3 hours. As you can tell by the time of this post it has happened tonight. I drive a lot as part of my job and being drowsy during the day is quiet a large problem. Any ideas?

Hi.
How long have you been using the Cpap? It may take your body a while to adjust to being able to fall asleep and stay asleep.
My pulmonologist has told me to make sure I do the following:
- go to sleep at the same time every night
- make my bedroom a sanctuary for sleep, where nothing will disturb me - no computer, no television, no bills or worries - just anything and everything that could soothe and calm me to sleep. If you haven't done that with your bedroom and your sleep time, then it seems like a great idea and so far is helping me - although I'm just getting started on the path.
I work late hours right night but am applying for jobs now that would allow me to develop a night-time bedtime ritual that will eventually signal my body that it's time to go to sleep and stay asleep.
Well, there are some thoughts. Let me know if any of it helps.
