[AA Miami]

Everynight I have a 5 hour battle with falling asleep.

4 years ago it was just my legs kicking involuntarily... no big deal...
3 years ago... now it was my arms... AND my legs.... okay.. weird...

2 years ago... my head starts jerking left and right like I'm the damn exorcist and started screaming and yelling, legs, and arms kicking ... and this would of course be yet another interruption from sleep ONCE AGAIN.

That goes on for hours... no joke.

This fall asleep, wake-up, jerk limbs, and scream ROUTINE is taking over... I don't know what it's called, I don't know how to fix it?

Doctor has prescribed klonopin and Ambien for bed time... it works on and off...

What is this thing called?????? Does anyone else on here have it??? How do I fix it??? It's ruining my professional and personal life....

Hi Al --

What you are describing is Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. If you are on klonopin and you're still experiencing limb movements, you need to follow up with your neurologist and discuss alternate treatments.

Yes, I do have it, and yes, it can seriously effect both your personal and professional life. And while there is no known cure, it is treatable with results varying from person to person.
