Despite the fact that some people claim that they hardly ever dream, everybody dreams every night. However, you only remember your dreams if you wake just after them. This must be what is happening in your case. The result is that you're getting a very fragmented night's sleep, and I'd imagine that you feel tired during the day.

Are you on any medication? Is anything interrupting your sleep, e.g. a pet or your children? There is a reason for your frequent waking during the night; you just need to try and work out whether it's something you can identify and control.

Try to go to bed at a similar time each night. Do not drink caffeine containing drinks in the evening. These will upset your sleep cycle, and avoid alchol too - it will cause you to sleep less deeply, resulting in a a poor quality of sleep.

( am a Clinical Physiologist working in a hospital in the Midlands, and I diagnose and treat a sleep condition called Obstructive Sleep Apnoea).
