Lost Stage of Sleep / Sleep Terrors at 40+

Post a new topicby spuddikus on Mon Apr 28, 2008 3:12 am

Hi,

I have a question that if anyone on this planet can answer, I will be eternally grateful.

I am in my early 40's and can remember two mornings in my ENTIRE life that I've felt rested and full of energy when I woke up after a full nights sleep. I feel much the same way when I wake up that I do when I go to bed.

About a year or so ago, I had a sleep study done. It showed that I did not have apnea, (although I know I do because I stop breathing when I sleep, how do I know, I wake up, or have dreams that I've got asthma and can't breathe) :), but that I missed altogether, the restful stage of sleep. The doctor I had at the time told me I needed to be checked for diabetes, because in his opinion that was the cause of everything bad in my life. B.S. is what I think, and I never went back to him. I am not an old woman being hysterical, nor was I a young woman being hysterical, (I've had the same symptoms for my whole life), when I went for help before.

I am exhausted, I feel completely worn out, run down and getting depressed. I know there has to be a better way of living, not feeling like this all of the time. The older I get, the worse it feels; sometimes I will bolt out of bed an hour or two after falling asleep terrified that I am going to die and shaking uncontrollably. No, it's not just fear, I just can't stop my body from shaking. This too has been happening since my late teens, early twenties. The same doctor told me I was nuts, a bit more diplomatically, though I'm sick of being called a hysterical woman, or hypochondriac, I NEVER go to the doctor anymore.

Well, if there is a soul out there that knows what is wrong, or can point me in the RIGHT direction after all these years, I would be eternally grateful, and I am sure I wouldn't feel like I am dying every night.

I feel as though I need to add too, I do not partake of drugs, illegal or legal. I drink, though it is a beer or a mixed drink every once in a while.
