Nausea with sleep onset

Post a new topicby ahr on Thu May 29, 2008 4:41 pm

Hello - I'm new to the forum. I have an appointment (finally) with a sleep specialist in a few days. I suffer from excessive daytime sleepiness. This started around the age of 23 - I'm now 28. I've been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, ADHD, Depression B12 Deficiency, etc (all basically assumptions by my numerous doctors when they couldn't figure out why else I'd be tired. My primary doctor finally mentioned I should get tested for a sleep disorder. (just wish he would have mentioned this 5 years ago -or I wish I would have thought of it as well...) I'm taking Concerta and Zoloft to help with the fatigue and irritability. And I sleep like a champ at night, other than waking up every 3 hours and falling right back to sleep.

Anyways, back to my question. Since the EDS began the one thing that happens often that I can't seem to understand is sometimes I'll get nauseaous and dizzy right after I fall asleep. It seems to mostly appear when I fall asleep after a long busy day or if my meal had MSG in it. I'll fall asleep fine and then something or someone will wake me up a few minutes or seconds later and BAM I feel sick and dizzy. I have to sit up and take dramamine, pepto, or emetrol and wait for myself to pass out again. I sometimes get sick to my stomach and have thrown up a few times from this. The next day I'll feel fine. I have fallen asleep on the bathroom floor many times from this. I just don't understand what this is... Vertigo? dehydration? heat exhaustion? beats me! Each time I mention this to a doctor they just sigh and blow it off as maybe it was a food intolerance situation.

Any ideas??
