Am I Scizophrenic? Do you know what this is?

Post a new topicby spider1597 on Sat Oct 18, 2008 9:08 pm

I've been trying to research sleepwalking, but the symptoms don't seem to match my experiences. For a long time I've risen still asleep. I see hallucinations of people in my room- usually people I'd seen during the day. It's like I'm awake, because I know I'm in my room sitting in bed, but I'm talking to these people I think are around me, afraid of being rude by sleeping. I do remember that it happened unlike sleepwalking cases.

I'm looking for answers now because they are much more frequent than before- almost every night. If anyone has any information or ha experienced this as well, your advice would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think you are schizophrenic as that is the manifestation of an entirely different personality. I would love to see an answer to this though. I have had similar symptoms - seeing things which aren't but in the context of my dream. (The room will be the same in my dream as outside it but I will dream in elements which aren't there. And why I keep seeing spiders and spider webs would be interesting to find out. Fortunately I am not terrified of them so find it interesting - still, a while ago I had my husband chasing spiders around the room and killing them only the spiders weren't there - don't remember that - but I do remember a few 'almost awake' episodes where I saw spiders and spider webs in my bedroom. ) I am normal while awake and am also a sleep-walker and sleep-talker but this element of my sleep disorder has been common since childhood as well. I am not sure what is going on but don't figure you are crazy - just go to a sleep-disorder clinic. It might be manifestations of sleep paralysis, minus the nasty 'paralysis' part. Who knows..

I have a similar problem in that I see monsters coming out of my ceiling. If I wake up, I tell myself it was just a bad dream and I am fine. The problem is that I don't always wake up and instead I react to it in my sleep and tend to point at the ceiling while looking petrified. I have a long history of sleep walking so I just assumed this new twist was due to higher levels of stress and a leak in a ceiling in a different room. My doctor didn't seem too concerned so I think this is somewhat normal.
