Am I sleepwalking?Something disturbing happened to me last evening. I usually keep a couple small buckets of loose change in my nightstand drawer and I only take them out to cash them in. Well, last night I noticed they were gone. I don't have a roommate. I didn't notice anything else in the house moved or disturbed in any way. I didn't notice anything else missing. And I definitely don't remember moving them. In fact, I had just added more change to the buckets on Saturday morning and by Monday night the buckets are missing. I'm wondering if there's a chance I was sleepwalking because I did sleepwalk a few times as a kid. I also had noticed the buckets were getting full and I would need to cash them in soon. I have a hard time believeing that someone would break in only to steal to buckets of loose change from my nightstand. So, last night I looked all over the place for them. It's not that I desperately need the change or anything, I just want to know what happened. Is it possible I thought I was 'cashing the change in' and hid it somewhere from myself?
Re: Re: Am I sleepwalking?I've done things like that before. I go and move things around, put things in drawers. Take books down from the nightstand and lay them on the floor. Hide things. It sounds like it could be sleepwalking to me. But like the Sleep specialist said, no one knows for sure. If you had a roommate, they can tell you if you do this. I didn't find out until I got married. My college roommates didn't see me do anything and I think I started as an adult. Fun honeymoon to find out that I had this disorder. But after 18 years, my husband still calls me back to bed, fairly patiently. I prefer to just reorganize and go back on my own. I haven't hurt anyone. I will sometimes diagree with him and tell him why I really do need to move the books. I beleive whatever I'm dreaming. My family says they can tell b/c I have that glassy look in my eyes. I was told (maybe not scientific?) that half your brain is awake and half is asleep. That's why you can see and not run into things. It's an interesting thing.
sleeptalkerwalker I'm missing a few things and wonder if I hid them somewhere too. I don't usually lose things. That's freaky! [quote] Something disturbing happened to me last evening. Re: Re: Re: Am I sleepwalking?I have come from a family of sleepwalker and talkers, but since my mom died in january of 2001 i have walked and talked and ate, cleaned, ironed, fed the dogs, let them out to potty, just about everything you can imagine i have done it. my children and husband tell stories every morning that untill they taped me i didn't actually believe then i have to keepthe tv on all night with the volumn up as if we were watching it, this keeps the night terrors away i have to play a vcr tape over and over of a good hearted movie. what can i do help i am afraid i am going to drive. also i don't seem to need my glasses when i am sleepwalking. this is odd because i can't see with out them normally. are you aware of any soutions to prevent me from killing myself or even someone else? Please email me Terry [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed]
It is possible but there is no way for me to tell you that for sure. Something disturbing happened to me last evening...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Am I sleepwalking?Maybe you can try a small(If your not a loud snorer)a voice activated tape recorder. Although it cant stop the sleepwalking, it may help you know more certain if your sleepwalking. I know how unsettling it is to not know. In my opinion it is very possible and sounds very much like something I would do. I am now 28 years old and I am just now realizing just how serious my problem is. Im being told more and more rediculous, but true stories about things I do in my sleep. Any advise from anyone would be very appreciated.
