Sleepwalking & College Dorms

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Apr 14, 2002 11:29 pm

I have an 18 year old daughter who used to have night terrors. These subsided but she now sleepwalks a couple of times a month. She is always very calm and is easily led back to bed.

Now she is looking to start college this fall and I have concerns about sleepwalking in a dormatory environment.

I am looking for guidance as where to look for preparations we can make or preventitive actions we can take. I am reluctant to make here live at home because of these mild episodes.

sleep walking is a common problem and most children grow out of it. typical things that can prompt it are sleep deprivation and psychological stress. medications have been used but usually are not necessary. Increasing the amount of time she sleeps each night and learning good coping skills should help.
