sleepwalking

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu May 16, 2002 10:50 pm

I can't wake my fiance when he falls asleep. It only happens at night. I have tried calling his name, shaking him, spraying him with water. He doesn' t wake up! He opens his eyes, has no idea who I am, where he is, or who he is. He says something insane and falls back asleep. Now if I try to wake him by shaking, he lashes out. I have to stand 10 feet away and spray cold cold water on him for 10-15 minutes before he gets up. What is this? He falls alseep on the couch, sometimes he has to work nights and I can't get him up. What is going on? Is this sleepwalking? or some form of it? Who do we see?

It may be that he is difficult to wake since he is in a deep stage of sleep. When people wake from the deep stages of sleep they can often be confused. An evaluation from his physician is a good starting point and maybe a sleep specialist if needed.
