somnambulism

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Feb 23, 2002 2:25 pm

i have a 4 years old girl, who is somnambulist,I´ve heard lots of remedies between people two of them said;
wakes her up in order to stop sleepwalking, and the other said put a water container bed said so she is gonna wake up inmediatly stops sleepwalking.
So my question is what happen if I wake her up during sleepwalking or if I put that water container bedside. Thanks.

some people can get violent when woken from sleepwalking so it is generally not recommended. This is a common sleep problem and most children outgrow it. The best approach is to make sure she is not sleep deprived as that can make sleep walking worse. Also any psychological stress can make it worse as well. It is generally not a problem as long as the child is not in danger of hurting themselves.
