Too young for RBD??Hi all! My husband has been a VIVID nightwalker/talker for the last 7 years (he's 28 now) and maybe earlier-but he had the only bedroom in the basement, so who knows. During his dreams he jumps out of bed and DOES things...He has moved our King size bed out into the middle of the floor with myself and our daughter sleeping in it, he has ran out of the bedroom and into the garage to "get" somebody, he has left our house and gone into the backyard. He has tried to lift up our bed while we were sleeping in it and attempted to rip two glass sconces off of the wall above my head. He also does non-violent things as well, like asking me to help him hand out the prescriptions at the pharmacy, getting dressed or rearranging things in the bedroom. He has also completed complex tasks...going into the kitchen, getting a paper towel getting it wet and then brining it back to the bedroom to clean up a "mess". He will talk to me very coherently (sp?) and will also argue with me if I try to get him to stop whatever he is doing. He is out of bed neaarly nightly, often 3-4 a night (that I'm aware of). He has had a sleep study done (but had a heck of a time sleeping) and they found nothing-granted he was only asleep there for 3 hours. He is only 28...can this be RBD?? Or can sleep walking be this involved? Thanks so much!!
Sleep tight! Heather
Re: Too young for RBD??I know it's not funny, but I can't help but laugh. I think your husband and I are related.
You mentioned he gets angry if you try to stop him. If someone tells me I'm just talking in my sleep it makes me mad and I try to convince them that there really IS a Oriental woman who lives in our bathroom who has lost her dogs, and why is it absurd that I want to help her find them? or whatever it is that night. The only advice I've gotten that has helped so far is to keep a night light on, as bright as you can stand it. I used to keep my room pitch black, so when I started walking and talking with my eyes wide open, there was no light to help wake me. I'll bet you and my husband could sure swap some stories! Re: Re: Too young for RBD??HEHEHE! I know it is amusing. It makes for some great party chatter! :) I don't know if the night light would work for us though...He usually flips on the ceiling fan light...NICE AND BRIGHT and continues on his way to "save the tralier from rolling down the hill" "stop the boat from hitting the rocks" or "hold on to the sleeping bag that is carrying him down the river in a tent" (my personal favorite!) :)

Re: Re: Re: Too young for RBD??Definately funny. I often sleepwalk when experiening too much in one day. Just before the war in Iraq all you could see on tv was talks about finding missiles and stuff. So at night I dreamed that missiles were fired at me from the other side of my room. I dug first to avoid it hitting me. Then I DIVED out of my bed and even thought-Yeah, I`m superwoman, it didn`t hit me. Still this can be very annoying and dangerous. You can actually hurt yourself. Plus, if you start screaming, you can really frighten oteher people. That`s why I try to relax before go to bed. This often helps.

DangerousYou are so right about the danger. Last July I fell and split the bone in my arm down the middle and then out. In 99 I fell down a flight of stairs. And then just a few months ago I fell and hit my head and ribs. The people at the er are starting to look at my husband funny.
I walked and talked a lot after 9-11, that the US was real war zone. But the one I remember most was during the sniper attacks last year. My daughter had a baby and I could hear her crying but I couldn't get to her because of the sniper. I woke up huddled in the shower. I am seriously thinking of installing a porch light with a motion sensor in my bedroom. I would set it so if I stood up during the night it would all but blind me. Eventually it would stop working because I would get in the habit of not standing up all the way but it might help for now. [quote] Definately funny.
