Why the fatigue with Sleepwalking? Could it be related to a REM problem?

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Jan 09, 2003 12:47 am

I've been diagnosed as a sleepwalker and talker from two labs and four nights at them. Sleep specialists are stumped as to why I have such chronic fatigue. (not chronic fatigue syndrome but similar to Fibromyalgia w/o the pain). It seem related to my sleep disorder above and there is definitely a correlation between times when I'm up 5 or more times and more tired the next day. But this is my question.
Could I have two sleep disorders?
I was tested and they ruled ot RLS and Apnea. But I never entered in REM sleep at the labs. (Tough place to sleep with that camera on you and tons of wires everywhere). But I wondered, is there another disorder related to lack of REM sleep?
I don't think and doctors don't think I have RBD. I don't show the signs. But when I do get more REM sleep, I feel so much more rested.

Once I went to CO in the higher altitudes (8000-1200 feet)and slept for 12-14 hours a night for several weeks. I was so refreshed-I hadn't felt that way in years. Another friend of mine mentioned the same thing happended to him. Does the lack of oxygen give you more REM sleep?
How can I get better/more REM sleep? Moving to CO isn't an option.

Now my 14 year old daughter is always tired. They've ruled out everything and I wonder if this is her problem as well. She says she rarely gets REM sleep either. What are your thoughts that I can bring to my doctor?

Thanks!
